“AIG SPONSORS JIHAD TV” reads a banner being flown over MetLife stadium before the Giants-Texans game this Sunday intended to pressure the company to stop advertising on Al-Jazeera America.
The Tampa-based Florida Family Association is paying for the aerial banner. The FFA says AIG is the only Fortune 500 company that still advertises on the allegedly terror-friendly network.
FFA president David Caton told the Daily Caller he hopes the aerial banner will draw the attention of tailgaters.
“There is going to be lots of tailgating going on,” Caton said. “That is [who] we are really targeting.”
Caton has previously used aerial banners to attack Lady Gaga, Disney World’s “gay day” and Proctor and Gamble for advertising on Al-Jazeera TV.
Caton says that Proctor and Gamble ended its sponsorship of Al Jazeera America right after his “P&G SUPPORTS JIHAD TV” ad flew over the Green Bay-Cincinnati game last year.
AIG spokesman Larry Mark told the Daily Caller that the company knows “it is unrealistic to expect that all venues in which our ads appear will be favorable to all people.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled the Tampa-based Florida Family Association a hate group.
